The mentor guides, influences and shares their knowledge and experiences with the mentee so that the mentee learns from their mentor.<\/p>\n<p>A mentoring relationship is one where both mentor and mentee recognise the need for personal development. Successful mentoring is based upon trust and confidentiality.<\/p>\n<p>Usually, the mentoring relationship is a long term one \u2013 most commonly between an individual and their manager. However, not all managers have the same area of expertise as the individual and this is where an external mentor comes in.
